√K Contemporary (ルートKコンテンポラリー/東京・新宿)では、2025年7月5日（土）から 8月2日（土）にかけて、タイ出身の若手アーティスト、サリーナ・サッタポン（Sareena Sattapon）の個展「When you find you in the middle of emptiness」を開催いたします。
気鋭の若手アーティスト、サリーナ・サッタポンは、タイの少数民族に生まれ、バンコクのシラパコーン大学にて修士号を取得後、今春に東京藝術大学グローバルアートプラクティス専攻にて博士号を取得しました。

タイから日本へと移住し、博士課程へと進みつつ創作活動を続けたサリーナの一つのステージが終わった今、彼女は立ち止まり、内省を深めることで、表現者としてまた新たなステージへの一歩を踏み出し始めています。本展「When you find you in the middle of emptiness」で発表する新たなシリーズ《When you find you》は、これまでの作風とは異なり、鑑賞者を包み込むような温かみがあり、これまで自身の信念や挑戦を表現してきた彼女の新たな一面を見せてくれます。サリーナは、本展で「小休止」することの大切さを感じてほしいと言います。すべてが絶え間なく進化し続ける社会に生きる現代人にとって「立ち止まる」という行為は、とても難しいかもしれません。しかし、成長し、前に進むためには休息をし、自身がどこにいて、どこに向かうのか、少し考える時間が必要なのではないか。本展において、サリーナは鑑賞者にそんな「休息」と「内省」の必要性を提示しています。
本展では、旧作から新作まで、絵画、写真、映像、インスタレーションといった多彩な作品群を展示いたします。
また、会期中、7月26日(土)にはサウンドセラピストを迎えたメディテーションイベントを開催予定です。
今後が嘱望される若手アーティストの一つの大きな節目ともなる本展をどうぞお楽しみください。

In the middle of emptiness
We fight. We strive. We labor. We believe. We survive.
All this motion, all this noise.
Was it ever the point?
Maybe life was never about the climb but about the quiet in between.
Perhaps all we ever needed was simply... to breathe.
Throughout my journey as an artist. I have spent most of my time contemplating.
I think about the lives of people, society, the world, nature, and the complex relationships between all of these. I move through my thoughts, beliefs, and my own quiet struggles, hoping that art will benefit others and help make this world a better place.
Intensive conceptual work, combined with continuous efforts to develop processes and techniques, has gradually made me neglect my inner voice and forget the peace and joy that come from creating art.
‘When you find you in the middle of emptiness’ is a space where we all can pause and breathe. I stepped away from the social critique I once engaged in, turning instead to self-reflection, revisiting old memories in order to better understand and live within the present. This exhibition brings together my new and past works, to show the evolution of my artistic journey.
The new series When you find you (2025) becomes a raw and unfiltered landscape of memory, not only the ones we readily recall but also those long sealed behind inner walls. Ultimately, this process of looking inward may become a small staircase that brings us closer to the peace we are quietly searching for.

すべての動き、騒々しさ。
それが目的だったのだろうか？
もしかすると、人生の本質は上に登っていくことではなく、その合間にある静けさにあるのかもしれない。
恐らく、私たちに本当に必要だったのは、ただ・・・「呼吸する」ことだった。
アーティストとしての旅の中で、私はほとんどの時間を思索することに費やしてきた。
人々の人生、社会、世界、自然、そしてそれらの複雑な関係性。私は自分の思想、信念、静かな内面の葛藤の中を進んでいく。
概念の探究、技法やプロセスの研鑽を重ねるうちに、私は次第に自分の内なる声を置き去りにし、創作する喜びとそこから得られる平穏を忘れてしまっていた。
「When you find you in the middle of emptiness」は、私たち全員が立ち止まり、呼吸をするための場所である。私は、かつて携わっていた社会批評から一歩離れ、自分の中の古い記憶を辿ることで「いま」を理解し、より良く生きようとしている。そこで、本展では私の創作活動の変化をみていただけるよう、新作と旧作を展示する。
新しいシリーズの《When you find you》（2025）は、記憶という風景を、生々しく、飾らずに描き出している。それらにはすぐに思い出せる記憶だけでなく、心の奥に封じ込めていた記憶も含まれている。内面を見つめるこの過程は、やがて私たちが密かに探し求めている平穏に近づくための小さな階段となるのかもしれない。

気鋭の若手アーティスト、サリーナ・サッタポンは、タイの少数民族に生まれ、バンコクのシラパコーン大学にて修士号を取得後、今春に東京藝術大学グローバルアートプラクティス専攻にて博士号を取得しました。
在学中から注目を集め、国内外で数々の賞を受賞し、近年ではCAF賞2022最優秀賞、2024年にはTokyo Midtown Award 2024準グランプリ、そして野村賞を受賞するなど、その躍進はとどまるところを知りません。サリーナの作品群は現代社会やわたしたちの在り方への示唆に富み、個と他者の関係、社会とのつながり、隔絶、格差など気づいていながらあえて見えないようにしてきた事象を可視化し、意識下に提議する力を持っています。その制作の背景には格差社会に抗おうとする強い思いや、人々に平等にもたらされる幸福を願う気持ちが込められています。そして、表現者として、それらをどのように社会に提議するのかという葛藤と戦い続け、パフォーマンスやインスタレーション、絵画など多彩な手法で表現してきました。

Artist | Sareena Sattapon / サリーナ・サッタポン1992年、タイ生まれ。2025年東京藝術大学のグローバルアートプラクティス専攻にて博士課程修了。
パフォーマンス、インスタレーション、写真など、さまざまなメディアを用いて作品を制作。自身の経験や日常生活からインスピレーションを得た作品を制作し、現在は、人間の「つながり」と「断絶」に関わる身体的な空間のダイナミクス（変化・力学）に関心を持っている。これまでに、タイ、台湾、シンガポール、韓国、中国、インドネシア、ドイツ、ポーランド、ウクライナ、スロバキア、ノルウェー、スウェーデン、日本など、国内外で多数の展覧会に参加。CAF賞2022最優秀賞（2022）、野村美術賞（2024）、Tokyo Midtown Award 2024（2024）など、多数受賞。
